MiM 13: Chelsea vs Liverpool

Match in Mind 13, by Shadiq A-H. Free of charge.
Chelsea 0-1 Liverpool
Barclays Premier League
26/10/08
1.30pm
Stamford Bridge, London
When 86 tends to 0, 0 is equal to 3.
I wanted to try type that out mathematically but... lazy. If u dont get it, here's how soccernet.com puts it: "Xabi Alonso's solitary first-half goal ended Chelsea's 86-game unbeaten home league record and put Liverpool three points clear at the top of the Barclays Premier League."
Intro: Why did I watch this? What kind of question is that? 'Cause i wanted to see my beloved Liverpool beat Chelski and got top, of course. And we had a mini 4.11 '07 gathering to watch this... 16 people to be exact. Thanks Ming for hosting. No missing this match, then.
Tactics: Both teams started with modified 4-4-2s, specifically modified in the '2' part of 4-4-2. Chelski's was with Nicolas Anelka receiving balls mainly from the left. L'pool's had Steven Gerrard playing slightly behind Robbie Keane. Chelski unsurprisingly played many balls through their right flank, with the impressive Portuguese right back José Bosingwa in the middle of most attacks. L'pool too unsurprisingly played many aerial long balls, but occassionally stringing many many short passes, something they've been progressively doing under Rafael Benitez's coaching thing. Nice, guys. I so damn want to join u when u do that thing.
My Man of the Match: Xabi Alonso (L'pool). To think L'pool almost sold him off 3 months ago. As usual, displayed his amazing passing skills. and, he got that goal which did it. Call it lucky, but he was there where it counted. And almost scored again with a free kick which left Petr Cech (That amazingly hard to beat goalkeeper) rooted and unable to move. Could have been two goals. He also displayed great understanding with his central midfield partner, Javier Mascherano. Just makes u want to sing "We've got the best midfield in the World, we've got Xabi Alonso!".
"What the..?": Not many moments during e match, other than Chelski's John Obi Mikel not being overly rough. But many moments in the whole 4.11 gathering, haha.
Commentator's memorable quotes: I dont know who the commentator was, and cant remember any quotes. 'Cause we were being too noisy to hear the commentator, haha. But, a few quotes from the guys which cracked us up are... "Stupid Aurelio!" - Paul Chuan, "Shut up, just shut up" - Esmond Loke, "Soccer is too incomprehensible" - Jerrold Yam, "His face looks square!" - Yao Yu, "Wah he's damn slow" - Jerome Koh, "Wah Carragher damn dirty lah!" - Jonathan Whye, "Esmond, high five lah" - Shadiq, "No, Chelsea were just damn lousy" - Anthony Tan. "Oh my goodness where the h*ll is Aurelio?" - Donovan Ou Yong. "Lets go watch High School Musical now!" - Shafiq, "Guess who i saw in the train" - Isaac Lee, "No, Chelsea were just damn lousy" - Anthony Tan. "Oh my goodness where the h*ll is Aurelio?" - Donovan Ou Yong. "Wah. We're playing like Arsenal, Jerome shoot already lah!" - Loo Ming Jie. U guys, 4.11, rock.
Implications/Expectations: L'pool made 86 become 0, and 0 become 3. Now to make 18 years worthwhile. The best shot they've had at winning the league in a long time. Their display against Chelski underline their title ambitions further, more so as Fernando Torres's absence due to injury did not seem to hamper L'pool. Chelsea's unbeaten home record, which was admittedly very respectable, is over, but i think they'll go back to building a new home record in their next home match. Stamford Bridge still seems a bridge too far, unless u've got the passing of Alonso to guide u there. And.. Since Javier wants something to make fun of me with, here u go, I think I'm in (less than three) with Alonso's passing.

MiM 12: Côte d'Ivoire vs Argentina

Match in Mind 12, by Shadiq A-H. Free of charge.
Côte d'Ivoire 1-2 Argentina
Olympic Games 2008 - Mens Football Tournament
7/8/08
7.45pm
Shanghai Stadium, China
Intro: Quite a few reasons why I watched this match and MiMmed it. Like how I haven't seen any competitive football since Euro 08 ended. And how all of u people are probably doing ur chem ias, math worksheets, history ias, what have u. But i, ah i dont change much (unlike our climate, thanks to deforestation, carbon emissions, ozone depletion... ah man i've been listening in bio, though) and so watched a football match instead. And also, this is true, nothing unites like football so if 5.11 needs anyth, its football (call this propaganda from me, but hey we've been getting quite alot of that stuff recently eh?). And one more reason, probably the biggest reason too, the reputation of the teams. Argentina have always been strong forces in youth levels (Olympics is under 23, with 3 overaged players allowed) and so had that reputation going into this tournament. Côte d'Ivoire (CIV) are African, and African teams have somehow been able to surprise us and win so much at youth levels over time, with their physical power mainly, so CIV could be the next African team to surprise us.
Tactics: Both teams had modified 4-3-3s. Argentina had a 4-3-3 where Lionel Messi was the focus in the 3 upfront. CIV had a 4-3-3 with their 2 wingers upfront dropping to about the halfway line alot. Other than that, Argentina tried to play their usual passing game.
My Man of the Match: Sekou Cisse (CIV). He made the left wing his in the first half, and got the goal for CIV. Had a very good game. His runs with the ball down the left wing were based mainly on his physical power and pace, and these runs did alot to make the Argentinian defence nervous. They fouled him at times, leading to free kicks too. Oh and in case u havent heard his name before, he playes for Roda JC in Holland. And e 'JC' in Roda JC isnt 'junior college', neither is the 'Holland' that place near school, i dont know what this 'JC' is and this 'Holland' is the country.
“What the..?”: Very few lah. Although when i saw the two teams and saw Juan Román Riquelme being Argentina's captain i was surprised, because I didn't read anywhere that he was even included as one of their overage players. Riquelme's passing range is (ask anyone) too good and seeing him there was surprising yet nice. Like i said, very few "what the?" moments. This one also not so shocking.
Commentator’s memorable quotes: I dont know who the commentator was, but caught a few quotes. "Here is Antoine N'gossan, CIV's youngest player, who's 17.. nicely done there", "I don't think i need to tell u when Messi gets the ball, the crowd's roar will tell u", "He scored one goal and set up one, another day at the office then for Lionel Messi" - commentator. The first quote above was just so.. The jealousy, turning saints into the sea, swimming through sick lullabies.
Implications/Expectations: Argentina did not really live up to their reputation in this match, i think they are capable of a much better passing game. So, yup that might be expected. CIV deserved a draw, i think, i expect them to keep this going and continue playing this well in their remaining 2 matches. Another implication is.. eh, that player was 17. the guy who wrote this post so nge ah?
haha, nevermind nevermind. enjoy ur national day holiday, classmates.

random ruth ranting returns

Hey all

Haha, it's really nice to see the blog revived, even though on a tad bit of a sour note but more or less it's been pretty good yeaaaahh?
And no, I'm not doing this for Charvi's drink.

Mostly, so I can clear the guilt trip at the back of my head for not uploading stuff like photos and videos ever since may. Hey! If you're really lucky, maybe I'll even upload the video where I almost killed Yi Wei in Thailand with the motorbike, just to show you how sorry I am(:
(and I truly am sorry Yi Wei, I don't know how many lifeyears have I scared out of you): )

EH HOLY MACARONI I AM SO SORRY I CAN'T FIND MY WOW VIDEOS. I CAN'T ENTERTAIN YOU FOLKS. Daaaaang.
Really sorry):

Oh wells, I'm really sorry guys):
But if you're looking for the marshmallow eating competition video, scroll doooowwwnnn.

Okay, now I shall move ooon and upload some WOW photos. Yeah yeah, I know they're uploaded here there and everywhere but this time! TADA! I shall give a commentary on the photos to help us all relive the good memories!(:

First, I shall spam photos of Kimchi, the extremely adorable 2months(I think, or was it 1?) old puppy from some Korean pastor to the school. The cuuuuteeenesss<3

aiyoh, jonny! go and spoil the photo. should just crop out your face. Ohohoho.

Haha, super adorable right?! But I'm kinda scared that we might have poisoned the cute little thing with all the paint on our hands when we carried her (at least, I think it was a a her, or was it a he?)

Moving on!

Pollution makes me angry >:(

Actually, the whole lot of milky dirty water was really gross. Specially when it came to jumping over puddles of it to catch frisbees

The murals!
Mistake: using the wall plaster white paint instead of patiently waiting for the acrylic white paint. Bigggg mistake, took me 40minutes and a scrub that was bigger than my hand to remove all the paint from my feet and hands.

But I guess, I still loved the murals even though they weren't mindblowingly awesome. Sentimental value!

EH EH THIS LOOKS LIKE MINHKY RIGHT RIGHT RIGHT?!
so amused.

and remember how we siao city kids were quite amusing with the train tracks?
we so need to go out of the house more.
Class outing!
Okay not really.

Okay, no more photos, I'm getting tired of uploading them.
Besides, my memories kinda failing me.

Wow was mindblowing in many ways. I guess, yeah, there were a lot of bad things that happened and stuff that seemed atrociously mindwrecking at that point back then but now when I look back, they weren't that bad I guess. There were plenty of good times too yeaaah?
So I guess, it isn't quite fair for us to say that WOW screwed up our class pretty bad.
And even then, it only seemed like the trip screwed up our class cause of all the horrible things that happened within the span of one week but in truth, wasn't a lot of the problems actually already there lying underneath the surface? Just that we never confronted the problems in our class and they happened to erupt in the middle of the trip.

I guess, you know! Instead of sighing and wishing ourselves back to the way things were at the beginning, shouldn't we be learning from our mistakes and confronting the problems we have now? If we all chose to keep quiet and just let everything bubble and boil and fester, won't it just erupt into something much more hideous than it is now?

I guess what I'm trying to say is that, I don't want us to go back to the way things were in the beginning cause it isn't confronting the present and it isn't going to solve any problems that are happening now. It's a hopeless wish and it's my sincere prayer that we can all pull ourselves together to patch this class up.

[/edit]

with all my love to the class that I know is still awesomely wonderful

Replies 2/ somewat of a teamtalk, i think...i dunno la

lemme first reply to the lesser important mattters...everyth charvi said...after goin on to reply to the more important matters that nana brought up....and i noe wat ya'll be thinking...but eh eh, FOOD is more impt than anyth, u shud noe tt by now...oh word of caution, this post is super long.

so rite...abt charvi's lil' speech there...interesting and tot-ful...but y needa drama so much la...but then again tt's juz charvi...drama mama only....chey chey...

kk wat was i gonna say...oh ya....as heart-warming as ur version of that pe lesson was....i will agree that it did in fact get the class together and shitz...but hate to break one fact to u....being tt we had more guys than 5.12 so once we got the hang of the game by the second round we juz started powning as a result of more manpower...literally man-power...and yes i guess teamwork and shitz too la...

and here's the point where i get all philosophical on you ppl....u can trust wat i say cuz...i'm tend to be gd at this stuff, somehow...if u dun think so...bleah...dun matter...(although if i find out u dun think so i'm gonna hunt u down and coerce to say i'm gd...haha kiddin)...listen to everyth i say b4 goin "but no! but wat if? but wat abt?"....in ganesh's words..."i'll slap u"...heh

right...where was i...the philosophical....k see here's the thing abt people, and society....people....nvr stay the same...things change. people change. such is life. so there's no way things can go back to exact same joyous way it was in the beginning, sad but true. no point continously thinking and fretting abt it. hate to be corny in a serious moment, but i noe there's always tomorrow cuz i look at calendars and the watch/clock. and to make a bit more sense, there ain't no point chasing rainbows cuz there ain't no pot of gold at the end. juz a foolish irish myth. but then again, things, people and situations can 'go back', per se, to a certain safe place...almost close to how it used to be, wif the changes included...

and here's the thing abt society. it's a beautiful balance of good & bad. happiness and sadness. love & hate. one form cannot exist without the other. a class is like a society too. as such, u can't juz expect everyone to love everyone, everyone to be happy wif everyth everyone does. and here's a clear example: not everyone really loves that superhero-person in our class, who Will Smith acted as in a recent movie (if u get wat i mean). so izz like, there's bound to be grudges and spites here and there, even if they're juz tinsy ones. i know i haf mine abt ppl, i noe ppl haf grudges against me. there ain't nth u can do abt it. life's juz a problem after another. there's no real resolves to our problems. izz juz a matter of which problem is staring at u in ur face in this very moment in ur life right now. izz like, initally squeezin 15ppl in one table seemed nice for everyone, but eventually ppl juz start feelin they need a bit more space, literally and figuratively. get wat i mean? life can nvr juz be always abt happiness and joy, we all know that innit.

but hold ur horses ppl. (yes i did say horses but dun anyone get excited, juz an expression) izz not like i'm bein pessimistic and saying things will be bad. i ain't telling u to juz stand there and watch and things go bad, and evertually get worse. here's wat i'm tellin u all to do, in a wonderful analogy using SOFTBALL/baseball.

think of urself as a mediocre batter standing in the batter's box, waiting for a really good pitcher to pitch. now when the ball comes at u, it is understood that u shud swing. juz cuz u're not that good dun mean u juz stand there, let the strikes go past u, and juz get struckout. it's evident that u din even try, so izz ur fault and not only will u feel guilty, u'll be blamed as well. the important thing is juz to try ur best. so wat if the ball is really fast and damn hard for u to contact, juz frikking try and swing la. u nvr know, u mite juz get a hit. and even if u do indeed try, but get out anyway, izz perfectly fine. u can at least say u tried, and ppl will say "he/she gave his/her best" how can u possibly know u'll get struckout if u dun even try innit? u must always try. even if failure's staring at u in the eye, u juz stare back, and try strive for success.

hope wat i've said helps u peeps somehow. and wadhwa, if at any point i seemed to disagree/shoot down anyth thing u said in ur speech, izz not intended as any form of offense eh. juz trying to bring the truthful points eh. no malice.

and NOW for the more impt stuff abt FOOD, izz more short and sweet cuz food dun need so much explanation. u cook/bake, u eat, u're happy. simple.

right...hey nana! can we make mutton/lamb instead? i love lamb!!!!! and lemme make a suggestion, u wanna try make the cranberry creme i brought to the airport for WOW? since u ppl noe better, u can actually make it look like and taste like wat it's supposed to be. plus since u teaching main courses, teaching a dessert would make it complete innit? juz a suggestion. and oso, i noe u weren't serious, but dun think abt murtabak, izz kinda lame. if u think abt it really, izz a lot like pizza, juz wif the ingredients inside.

RIGHT. now i'm done. eh wadhwa i better get smth for all this. i'm not toking crap (not really i think), and it takes up my time. hah.

onwards to a better tomorrow ppl, we must make sure the day does not become just as dark as the night. (adapted from harvey dent in Dark Knight. awesome movie =D.)

---A.K.S---

5.11...this is for you

hey guys! ok u guys call me your mother right?

so as your mother im telling u that during the PE lesson where we played dodgeball against 5.12....RMB!? yeah i dun think ive been more proud than that day after PE lesson of u guys..... i was seriously missing the class being and acting together as one esp after the hols... until that day when i saw that even after loosing 1 game, we managed to get together, act as 1 team, and be 1 5.11, and beat 5.12 at their very own game..... it was a sight to see and a success story to tell... maybe after all even though we may look very cliqish from the outside.... it seems that deep down inside each and everyone of us... there is that little wish of bringing back the class together like it was in the beginning of the year.... those very fun moments, those large group canteen discussion where i rmb we tried to squeeze over 15 people into 1 small circle table, the times when we had loads of laughs and had time to talk about nonsensical things, those "ruth" or "nad" moments, those stupid jokes we shared abt my announcements......

so lets all act as a class, as really good friends, and as good friends we should be able to hold onto our friendship through thick and through thin, through everything that we face. If u ahve any problems with other people, lets try not to hold grudges and instead forgive and forget. U guys can even sit down and discuss everything and solve all the problems and move on. Its time to get on with life and enjoy every moment of it... who knows if there will be a tomorrow? and u dont want any precious moments to be lost. Lets apologise if we know that we have done anything wrong or have wronged others....

ok im going to stop now... caz im like tearing remembering all the good times that we had. hope u guys make up with each other and we all as a class move on and forget the politics, forget the moments of hate, and remember the good times, caz after rain there is a rainbow. lets bring out that rainbows together as a class. :)

U know i love u guys! :)

Ciao >>>> 5.11 Peace out

Char

HI! guess who's in the house! (or blog whatever.)

So yea, going with the idea of not thinking about class politics, I won't raise what I think you guys already know. Let's just focus on other stuff yea? Maybe that might actually help instead of dwelling on all this nonsense.

SO! I'm here to talk about the cooking class I wanted to conduct. I'll repeat everything just in case some of you weren't here (or weren't listening (;).

1. You will get roughly 10 hours of CREATIVITY

2. It's 3 sessions. Probably two cooking, one baking. I guess if you don't come for all 3 it's ok? You get the amount of hours you come for, duh.

3. Conducted in the home-ed room. I heard it's filthy but I can always hope something miraculous has happened. Don't say I didn't warn you though!

4. Probably held on a friday? I will try not to have it on the weekend.
Reason for this is because.. Jon, Ruth, Amanda and I have frisbee on Monday and Thursday.
Jun Ming has Fencing on Tuesday and Thursday if I'm not wrong.

Leaves Wednesday and Friday. And I can't do wednesdays. SO! Friday it is. But this isn't confirmed yet. Note that it probably will have to be during August. So that we can finish before september when we should be starting to mug for our coming doom.

5. Finally what we are going to make! I realise that I will be teaching guys how to cook and mandy teach you guys to bake. So.. we needed something that's a little more guy-proof (no offense.) Hence I have come up with..

Beef stroganoff (go check it up if you don't know what it is.. it's a russian dish!) or Pasta. I got feedback that cream pasta sounds better than tomato? whatever you guys want. Just remember that after you cook you have to wash up so don't pick something too elaborate.

The next one I'll try to get a simple asian dish? I mean it can't be angmoh food all the time no? Haha, teach you how to cook rice for those who still don't know! (And for those who do maybe i'll teach you how to cook it the old traditional way? No rice cooker involved. )

The baking one.. for amanda to choose. But i was thinking apple crumble? Simple and delicious. But she wants to make brownies/cookies/muffins.

When you have decided or if you have any ideas or suggestions then tell me! THANKS.

(oh yeaa.. and I don't want too many people in this thing. Can't handle such a big group of boys lol. Erm.. about 10? I have 5 so there are 5 PLACES LEFT! come tell me if you want to join!)

LOVE YOU ALL!

MiM 11: Uzbekistan vs Singapore

Match in Mind 11, by Shadiq A-H. Free of charge.
Uzbekistan 1-0 Singapore
FIFA World Cup 2010 Qualifiers - Asian Qualifying 3rd Round
7/6/08
5.00pm
MHSK Stadium, Uzbekistan
Intro: MiMs are back, after EPL, A Div and so on ended. Could have done one on the European Champions' League final, but was tired after a hockey match and just didnt feel like it after a hugely disappointing hockey tournament. Could have done a few on the recent international friendlies, but didnt feel like it either. And (refer tagboard) I did say Euro 08 was starting and it meant MiMs. But this was not an EURO 08 match, if u're still wondering how S'pore is European. Hey maybe it is... (Some of u will get that little joke. Rest of u, can ask me if u want.)
Tactics: Both teams started with a 4-4-2. Basic 4-4-2, except Uzbekistan had their RM, Maksim Shatskikh, joining the 2 strikers whenever possible. Singapore had their LM, Khairul Amri, join their 2 strikers whenever possible. So, very similar. Uzbekistan made a tactical change halfway through the first half by bringing on Timur Kapadze, a CAM, to make it a 3-5-2. So, not very similar.
My Man of the Match: Daniel Bennett (S'pore). Did that statement sound funny? (Again, the same some of u will get why it may have been funny. But guys, no joke lah. I respect this guy. Looks like a real professional.) Was steady at LB, although he had Maksim Shatskikh to mark. I can safely say he was back to his usual, after how he, with e rest of e S'pore defence, made so many mistakes in their previous match. he was back to his usual, reliable, safety-first LB.
“What the..?”: U know what, i cant think of any such moments during e match. But, one such moment may be.. Why did this guy watch this match, and mim on it, when euro was starting right after it?! he should have watched e 1st euro match and mimmed it instead!.. Some of u might be thinking that right now. But hey, S'pore soccer is cool. Well, but is S'pore soccer really S'pore soccer? Cant help it but say that. (Again, some of u will get it.) But yes, S'pore soccer is interesting too. And e S'porean ST is quite good too, that Aleksandar Duric. Cant help it cant help it! (Again, those of u.)
Commentator’s memorable quotes: Dez Corkhill was commentating. Got a few quotes. "Lionel Lewis wouldn't need reminding of how Server Djeparov scored direct from a corner in the previous match", "S'pore would be very happy if all Uzbekistan do is take shots from 25m out today" - Corkhill. Didn't get that many quotes i guess.
Implications/Expectations: Uzbekistan are through to Asian Qualifying 4th round. And looking at how they play, i'm not surprised. Depending on the result of the other match in this group today which has not started yet, Lebanon vs Saudi Arabia, S'pore will know if they still have a chance to qualify for the next round of qualification. Hmm. So, good luck Uzbekistan. S'pore too. Or is it S'pore.. okay i'll stop. (haha guys. sorry lah cant help it.)
So, classmates, enjoy ur hols. Don't study too much. If u want to know what I did today, I spent 2 hours tracing down how the song that Liverpool fans sing for Fernando Torres came about. Yes, 2 hours. if u're a liverpool fan and don't know the song, go and hear it. adapted from an American civil war song called When Johnny Came Marching Home. Johnny?

The Pencil Parable

omg i sooo wanted to share this devotion during wow, but somehow got cancelled..
anw 5.11ers, PLS READ this ok? esp if u r a new student in ACS(I) cuz well, we ACS boys hav kinda heard this b4... so guys, yea u can skip this, tho i still strongly suggest u read this n reflect on it.. its my favourite devotion EVER in my life.. also i hav posted my other devotion that i shared during wow, for Charvi's sakes.. haha k enjoy..

The Pencil Parable
The Pencil Maker took the pencil aside, just before putting him into the box.
"There are 5 things you need to know," he told the pencil, "Before I send you out into the world. Always remember them and never forget, and you will become the best pencil you can be."

"One: You will be able to do many great things, but only if you allow yourself to be held in someone's hand."

"Two: You will experience a painful sharpening from time to time, but you'll need it to become a better pencil."

"Three: You will be able to correct any mistakes you might make." (using the eraser at the top of it)

"Four: The most important part of you will always be what's inside, and not the outside."

"And Five: On every surface you are used on, you must leave your mark. No matter what the condition, you must continue to write."

The pencil understood and promised to remember, and went into the box with purpose in its heart.

Now replacing the place of the pencil with you. Always remember them and never forget, and you will become the best person you can be.

One: You will be able to do many great things, but only if you allow yourself to be held in God's hand. And allow other human beings to access you for the many gifts you possess, be it working with your leaders or just following others.

Two: You will experience a painful sharpening from time to time, going through various problems in life, but you'll need it to become a stronger person.

Three: You will be able to correct any mistakes you might make.

Four: The most important part of you will always be what's on the inside, in your heart, of character in your soul, and not what you are on the outside.

And Five: On every surface you walk through, you must leave your mark. No matter what the situation, you must continue to do your duties.

Allow this parable on the pencil to encourage you to know that you are a special person and only you can fulfill the purpose to which God has tasked you to accomplish.Never allow yourself to get discouraged and think that your life is insignificant and cannot make a change.

Sow into the lives of people
Once there was a king who decided to set aside a special day to honor his greatest subject. When the big day arrived, a large gathering took place in the palace courtyard and four finalists were brought forward.

The first person was a wealthy philanthropist. This man was deserving of the king’s honor because of his great humanitarian efforts. He had given much of his wealth to the poor, building orphanages, schools and hospitals throughout the land.

The second was a celebrated physician. This outstanding doctor was deserving of honor for rendering his faithful and dedicated service to the sick for many years and discovering medicines that saved many lives.

The third was a distinguished judge. He was noted for his wisdom, his fairness and his many a brilliant decision.

The last person presented before the king was an elderly woman. Her manner was quite humble, as was her dress. She hardly looked the part of someone who would be honored as the greatest subject in the kingdom. What chance could she possibly have, when compared to the other three, who had accomplished so very much?

The king was intrigued, to say the least and was somewhat puzzled by her presence. He asked who she was. Then the answer came: “Well, my king, do you see the philanthropist, the doctor, and the judge over here? She was their teacher!”

This woman had no wealth, no fortune, and no title, but countless lives were helped, healed and changed through her giving.

We never know whose lives we’re touching. I’m sure someone prayed — someone gave — someone shared the Gospel with some of the greatest evangelists, preachers and givers we know. So really, you won’t know which kid’s life you are touching as you go about interacting with the people here.

Let’s serve the Lord by sowing unselfishly into the lives of the people he’s put in our path — so that they may become great in God’s Kingdom! There’s so much work to be done!

Mark 9:34-35 But they held their peace: for by the way they had disputed among themselves, who should be the greatest. And he sat down, and called the twelve, and saith unto them, If any man desire to be first, the same shall be last of all, and servant of all.

Rise and Fall

Sometimes in life you feel the fight is over
And it seems as though the writing's on the wall
Superstar you finally made it,
But once your picture becomes tainted,
It's what they call,
The rise and fall
(Craig David- Rise And Fall)

rise and fall ppl.. today's measure by strength is not by how much weights u can do in the gym, nor how tough u r in enduring the pains of a marathon run, but by how u pick urself up wen u fall..

let me share with u this (somewat) famous devotion..

One day this girl had a dream
She was walking along the beach with the Lord
and across the skies flashed scenes from her life.
in each scene there were two sets of footprints in the sand.
one was hers, and the other was the Lord's.
when the last scence of her life appeared before her,
she looked back at the footprints in the sand,
and to her surprise,
there were MANY times along the path of her life
where there were only ONE set of footprints.
And she noticed that its was at the lowest and saddest times in her life!!

so she asked the Lord,
"Lord, You said that once i decided to follow you, obey you, serve you,
that you would walk with me all the way.
but i noticed that during the most TROUBLED times in my life,
there is only ONE set of footprints!!
i don't understand WHY You left my side when i needed You most, O God..."

The Lord said,
"My precious child, I NEVER left you during your times of trouble.
Where you see only one set of footprints,
I was carrying you"

this is dedicated to some of my most precious friends, hoping that you may find Joy in the Lord in times when you feel down.

in closing i'd like to leave you with this verse
1 John 2:15-17
Do not love the world or anyhting in the world. If anyone loves the world the love of the Father is not in him.
For everything in the world-the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does- comes not from the Father but from the world.
The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever"

To summarise,
1) Be strong- no matter how hard the fall, pick yourself up..
2) If you can't find the strenght to do so, remember that the Lord is always with you..
3) Hang on to His love then, and remember not to fall into the trap of loving this world and those in it, cuz His love is all you need and it lasts for eternity..

In Him,
Yi Wei

MiM 10: ACS (Independent) vs Catholic JC

Match in Mind 10, by Shadiq A-H. Free of Charge.
ACSI 2 - 1 CJC
A Div Boys Football Tournament
8/5/08
4.30pm
NJC, Singapore
..
Intro: I didn't choose to watch this one, simply had to, cos I was playing in it. And some of u may know that I'm having 4 (yes, 4.) matches this week.. but i decided to do a MiM now anyway, for 2 reasons: 1. I don't feeling like doing chem, 2. there's been no activity on this blog for so long, even after e class had 2 birthdays since e previous post. So, back to e match.. this was e last match in the tournament for both these teams. CJC had to live up to their tag of being e 3rd best team in e group, after MJC and VJC (i love MJC, man..). ACSI had some pride to defend, after dropping many points unluckily in their 1st A Div tournament ever. And please please don't think that i'm doing a MiM just cos we won. No such thing, I would MiM any of our matches if not for my tiredness. I am quite very very tired now, but for those 2 reasons above, MiM lah. Oh and I played in this match along with other 5.11 people, Javier Lim and Pham Quang Minh.
Tactics: ACSI started with their normal formation, with Javier Lim on his newly-found RM position, Minh in his normal CF position and their no. 8 in his favourite DM position. Didn't really pay attention to what formation CJC played, but they preferred attacking through e centre, a preference that seems to suit them.
My Man of the Match: Javier Lim (ACSI). he scored e 2nd goal and had a part in e 1st. honestly, looked abit off when defending, but his goal helped. i was actually worried for him in e morning, after he came over to me and said he didn't feel like playing cos he was emo. but, that goal surely erased that. well it would have cured e emo if i were him, anyway. haha don't know about him though. on e lighter side, he didn't get kicked in this match, which has happened some times already, always followed by a scream from him haha. Javier, i told u, football cures everything. haha nice goal bud, although it was a rebound, tt was good anticipation. wohoo!
"What the..?": A few incidents can be put here, but i chose this one. ACSI players doing exactly what e CJC supporters tried. haha. 1st, a CJC player picks up e ball on e left side and their supporters start screaming "go! burn him burn him!", where "him" is shoban. but instead, shoban gets e ball back and burns that same player down tt same side. haha. 2nd, their supporters start doing one of their cheers, and it goes on for about 2 minutes. at e same time, e tiempo of e match is slowed down. ACSI's no. 8 doesn't want that, and he becomes irritated (slightly) by e cheer, and shout at e top of his voice, "ah come on AC!!!", and then, e whole place became quiet. haha.
Commentator's memorable quotes: No commentator for this match, but i did pick out some quotes from e players. "eh Javier! why u there?" - Lee Ren Xiang, "wah, damn emo lah. i think i can't play" - Javier Lim, "I want to play outfield today, i don't care" - Esmond Loke, "Huh? oh u ask why i wearing this? okay okay i go change to my keeper shirt now!" - Esmond Loke (haha nice try lah buddy), "wah i like NJC" - Gareth Nah (i wonder why..), "eh Luke stop looking through my phone!" - Shoban, "ah come on AC!" - our no. 8, "Cannot be what" - ACSI A Div Football team. haha..
Implications/Expectations: No implications, cos both teams were out of e A Div tournament, but I want to use this space to tell my teammates sth. Guys, i think we did have some reasonable team spirit. not e whole team was always present, sadly, but there were a good number of u guys who showed spirit. As coach said, next year we will try more and harder. And this year we should have finished higher than we did, remember.. cos we lost 8 points very very unluckily. So guys, thanks for at least working hard for it, and we'll do better next year. haha that line is becoming too normal at Liverpool.
And now, I'm going to get some good rest before tmr's very very very important match. After i read some football news, i'm going to sleep. see u all in sch tmr.

And i juz go...WOAH....

I know I said..

Hello classmates and whoever else reads this blog,
now i know i said i will only post MiMs, but i've got some explaining to do. so, right here. on a post.
1. sorry all who care, no MiM this weekend. i'm just too tired. hockey trang on saturday morning, slept through e whole of saturday afternoon, woke up, read newspapers, and watched EPL after that, and slept. so, really sorry, no MiM this weekend.
2. shoban u wanted a MiM on e A Div match we played on friday. was thinking about it, until i reached home and jus slacked. sorry man. haha. hope ur hand is fine. cos if ur hand isn't fine, people in centre midfield will be worried. btw in this case, centre midfield includes our defensive midfielder too. haha centre midfield.
3. my fault. forgot to ask johnny to take photos of e A Div match tt day. then when u people came at half time, i didn't even notice. haha was just looking at coach's whiteboard. gah. if i hadn't forgotten to tell u, and if u had taken photos, redsports would've had an article on A Div Boys Football, other than those featuring those Victorian guys.
4. Aravind, congrats on making A Div Softball final man.
5. Carren Thung, i never go out to injure people haha. and surely i don't play like a.. 'rugger'.
6. Audrie Goh, i do not play dirty. it was just testosterone. haha. it was that guy's foul, anyway.
8. Javier Lim, don't stress lah. no reason to stress.
9. Rafa Benitez, don't sell Peter Crouch...

See u all in sch tmr.
